About Janet

Janet Gershlick is a broadcaster with many years experience presenting for both the BBC and independent stations such as Capital Gold and Talk Radio UK - plus several online digital stations. On Talk Radio UK she presented a very successful national dating programme.

She has also worked in television both locally in East Anglia and on a national level as a co-host presenting with Trisha Goddard on her Channel 5 problem-solving show.

She appeared on ‘Come Dine With Me’ (Channel 4) - and came third (out of four contestants!!)

She previously qualified as a nurse at Charing Cross Hospital London.

Janet has travelled all over the world teaching broadcasting skills and presenting with British Forces Radio in Hong Kong, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands - and The British Virgin Islands.

She attended The Lee Strasberg Institute in New York to study ‘Method Acting’.

Her love of writing and storytelling began to emerge when she first arrived in Southwold, Suffolk over twenty years ago and wrote ‘Southwold. A Place to Love‘ about the stories behind the inscriptions on the beach huts, its many benches and the small brass plaques on the pier.

Several years later she wrote ‘When The Sky Falls In’ - the Journey of Grief.

She is a regular contributing writer for online publications including platform505.

She toured ‘When The Sky Falls In’ all over the world, as a performance piece - and it was received with applause, tears and all other emotions. Despite the challenging words performed she has many funny stories to share - and many treasured memories that encouraged her to keep moving forward.

One of the highlights was performing at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Janet then discovered a love of performing and after a summer in Southwold when with the ‘smallest theatre in the world’ in situ (room for two only…) she challenged those on the promenade to tell her their life issues and problems that she claimed she could solve in three minutes - and mostly did! She now hopes to tour with a stand up performance full of stories, humour and experiences. She also broadcasts from her caravan - which can be seen on YouTube.

She continues to write and has many more book ideas...
The joy of storytelling, writing and sharing is immeasurable.
